“Carti Culture” What is it?
Playboi Carti, also known as Jordan Carter, is not the common rapper many know of. He is known for using his high pitched voice in many songs, his incomprehensible lyrics, and many other things. To many, he is among other talentless rappers, and is called “trash” by many. But, he truly is not like any other rappers.
Emergence of the Carti visual “aesthetic”
Visuals, which were videos featuring various imagery or footage that were meant to represent the artist, originally came out in mid 2017. It later grew into a trend, with many other visual artists producing similar videos.
This marks an example of a visual for the artist. It is the Playboy Bunny logo, but is animated and distorted. Playboi Carti has a Playboy Bunny tattoo, which is to many, his signature.
A 10 minute video, full of various footage showing the artist, but with quick and complex transitions. It was made months before Carti would debut his album “Die Lit”. Ever since his #1 hit from the year before, hundreds of fans have been dedicated to making art and other imagery for him.
The message behind Carti visuals
The visuals hold special meanings. Behind every one of the videos lays a surprise. You may encounter a compilation of footage of Carti, it may even be a mix of clips from the decades of the 1980s, to 1990s. It varies among visual artists. Visuals for Jordan have risen after his May 2018 album “Die Lit” where he attracted even more fans.
Nothing too similar has been seen for other rappers. This makes Carti a unique artist, and despite the hate and put downs, he has a specialty like no other. To see such artistic expression by these very visual artists is incredibly brilliant, the vintage VHS themes, old 80s television, and pop culture of the 1990s is all very appealing. There are also some “Vlone” themes included in visual music videos, due to the artist’s preference in the designer clothing. His music matches well with a proper visual video, not exactly like a music video, but something else that is difficult to describe. They have a great skill in video editing, well made, and made with passion. The visuals only continue to rise in popularity, and for the artist, it may as well be great thing for him. Carti may appreciate the creative works by his loyal fans, because to him it shows that he has significance. Playboi Carti visuals are truly unique pieces of art. Even his trustworthy companion and main producer, Pi’erre Bourne, has art of his own that expresses his greatness.
TLOP4's & WLR’s Visuals
TLOP4, or The Life of Pierre 4, was a highly anticipated album of the producer/artist. Back in 2017, he announced that the album was in the making, and over a year later, the album debuted. Pi’erre started making his own music way before he worked with Playboi Carti. There had been few other previous albums, but they were exclusively released on soundcloud instead of being official. Pi’erre planned to make his album official, after long-awaited fans demanded for its release. His album had been predicted by his track titled “Marie Curie” where toward the outro, a female can be heard saying “TLOP4”. Visual artists have not only done visuals for Carti and other similar artists, but for Pi’erre as well. These visuals in particular comprise of images of the producer, and cars, typically Ferraris. The “sosshouse” logo also appears in some of his music videos, as he proudly represents the brand of “soss”.
In this video, the author, goonin, presents his viewers with a snippet and accompanies it with a visual, footage of Pi’erre doing different things, either flashing bills of cash, or clips from his music videos.
WLR, or Whole Lotta Red is album highly anticipated by Carti’s fans. Many visuals have been made to accompany the many snippets that are to be featured in the album. No one knows when the album will be debuted, fans say it may be in the month of May, or even in June. Others speculate that the album will debut later in 2019, but one thing should be mentioned. Carti’s 2017 “Playboi Carti” marked his first ever official album, it was released on April 14, 2017. His 2018 album “Die Lit” was released on May 11, 2018, thus, his next album may be released at some point in June 2019. One can only make guesses, and hope that it releases soon after the many snippets that were leaked.

Many small time producers, like ICYTWAT, MexikoDro, and others, helped boost Carti to fame. Another producer, Vlonetroops, was also instrumental in helping the artist gain an even larger following. His best releases were snippets titled “Molly”, “Buffy the body”, “Place”, “Bust Down” and his all-time best “Kid Cudi”. He hasn’t made any visuals, but his productions have been used in many visual videos on YouTube and elsewhere. Carti culture is almost everywhere, with large influences on Instagram, and a dedicated subreddit to him, r/playboicarti. Carti visuals are aesthetic and hits the minds of the nostalgic people who dream of living in the past. His music and visuals play like brilliant films, they are loved and cherished by thousands. They are simply, magnificent, creative works of art, and they represent the artist extremely well. One simple search is all it takes to discover a plethora of goodness.
